Naples, Fla. (2009) – The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is the official tourism marketing agency for Collier County, Florida, funded entirely by the Collier County tourist development tax.
Tourist development tax revenue pays for beach renourishment and coastal programs, museums, special grants and local tourism industry marketing and promotion. Collier County’s tourist development tax of 4% is charged on hotel and campground stays and short-term vacation rentals of less than six months. The tourist development tax generates between $13 and 14 million annual in Collier County.
The CVB provides information, assistance, free visitors guides and travel planning tools for consumers, travel agents, tour operators, meeting planners, the travel press and general news media. The bureau maintains the official travel and tourism Web site for Collier County, www.ParadiseCoast.com and a 24-hour toll free travel information hot line at 1-800-688-3600.
The CVB designs, develops and executes advertising, promotional and public relations campaigns to communicate the many attributes of the Collier County area as a vacation and business meeting destination.
Structure
The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades CVB is a government-based organization. The CVB operates as the tourism department of Collier County government, reporting to the County Manager. The CVB represents the entire tourism industry in Collier County. No membership fees are charged to area tourism companies. The CVB works on the business aspects of promoting, developing and sustaining the tourism industry in Collier County. It does not operate any public visitor centers. All of the area’s Chambers of Commerce operate visitor centers.
