Naples Beach Ranked In Top Ten USA Beaches

Naples Beach, which stretches for more than ten miles with public access points at the end of most streets throughout the elegant resort city, was ranked number ten in the survey. Five of the top ten favorite beaches named in the survey are Florida beaches.
"National Geographic Traveler was working on a checklist of the best American beaches with beach expert Stephen Leatherman, also known as 'Dr. Beach.' But we also wanted to take the pulse of American beachgoers to find out what their favorite beaches are, so we teamed with Yahoo! Travel and tapped the opinions of more than 2,000 Americans," said Keith Bellows, Editor in Chief of National Geographic Traveler. "The top ten are all 'tens' – great places to catch rays and sample the surf," Bellows added.
It’s easy to walk on to Naples Beach, yet with full beach parks and facilities limited to only a few locations and limited parking at most access points, it manages to remain quiet and free from crowds. The most popular gathering spot is Naples Pier, stretching 1,000 feet into the Gulf of

The Gulf of Mexico laps gently on the shores of Naples Beach - the waters typically are calm and perfect for swimming. Most days you can watch dolphin feeding on schools of fish that swim in toward shore. There is excellent shelling along the Naples shoreline, but the very best shelling is available if you take a short boat trip to nearby outer islands and sand bars where the shelling is outstanding.
“Visitors often say our beautiful beach is their number one reason for visiting the greater Naples area, but once they get here, they stay around because they discover we also have incredible nature preserves and parks connected with the Everglades, as well as upscale shopping, art, culture and fun family attractions,” said Jack Wert, executive director for the Greater Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
The top ten beaches in the poll are located in (in order): Miami, FL; Myrtle Beach, SC; Panama City, FL; Waikiki, HI; Tampa Bay, FL; St. Thomas, USVI; Key West, FL; Kaanapali, HI; St. John, USVI; and Naples, FL.
Most Neapolitans and visitors refer to the area as paradise, so it was a natural choice to identify this pristine Gulf beach community as the Paradise Coast, stretching from the sands of Naples beach south to the tropical shores of Marco Island and into the wild and unspoiled wilderness of the Everglades and Ten Thousand Islands. Beautiful beaches, surrounded by nature, the area is truly Florida’s Last Paradise.
